Thai-Malaysian border. – Christian Hidalgo [Netherlands]

Aquarium: 80x35x40

Hardscape: The hardscape is entirely composed of “tree trunk” wood, similar to spider/redmoor wood in texture and appearance but with a clear root and stem part. The direction of the wood has been respected in the hardscape to represent a flooded bush like one would find in the shallower peat swamps. To replicate a peat swamp, the substrate consists of peat and leaf litter.

Faune: Sphaerichthys osphromenoides Boraras urophthalmoides Trichopsis vittata

In this tank I replicated a typical peat swamp habitat found in Malaysia and Thailand. The water is very dark and acidic due to the high concentration of tannins added by the peat and leaf litter as well as the low lighting, which in nature would be caused by the treetops blocking the sunlight. Water flow is negligible. The water parameters are pH 4,2, TDS of 30ppm and temperature of 25C.
